Book Blogger Hop June 3 - 6, 2011

This week, Jennifer from Crazy for Books asks us

“Share your favorite post from the last month and tell us why it’s close to your heart!”

What a bad time to ask me this! I haven't been blogging a whole lot lately due to my new work schedule. So I am going to go with my last review of The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield. Firstly, because I loved the book and secondly, because I had fun writing the post after being absent!

What is your favourite post from the last month? Leave the link in a comment and I will pop on over to visit!

And don't forget, if this is the first time you have visited my blog say hello! Introduce yourself! I love meeting fellow book bloggers.

Book Blogger Hop May 5-9

Oh what a week! I am dead tired. What better way to spend my Saturday than reading and blog hopping between chores!

This week, Jennifer from Crazy for Books asks us: "Which book blogger would you most like to meet in real life?"

This is a bit of a hard one for me, because I know so many great bloggers! I would love to meet Amanda from On a Book Bender and Tara from 25 Hour Books, because we have been online friends for about 2 years now.
I would also love to meet Carin, from A Little Bookish, as we have spent quite a lot of time talking and I feel I know her quite well :)

If we could have a big meet up though, I'd love to meet all those on my links page. As these are the blogs I frequent the most.

Which book bloggers would you love to meet?

If you are stopping by via the hop be sure to say hello! and leave you link if you are visiting for the first time, I am always keen to add great blogs to my reader.

Book Blogger Hop April 15-18, 2011

Book Blogger Hop

I always have the intention of taking part in the Book Blogger Hop hosted by Crazy for Books, but come Friday afternoon I always forget. Weekends are busy, time flies and before I know it, the hop is over! So this week I am coming in late and joining in!

This week, the question is:

"Pick a character from a book you are currently reading or have just finished and tell us about him/her."

I am just about to start reading Dead in the Family by Charlaine Harris. As you all probably know, the protagonist in the Southern Vampire books is Sookie Stackhouse. Sookie is your typical girl next-door... she is smart, attractive and works as a barmaid. Difference is, Sookie is telepathic. She also always falls for the wrong guy... in this case, the supernatural kind.

These books are so much fun and I can't wait to see what happens in this one! Sookie is one of my all-time favourite female protagonists and these novels are my guilty pleasure ;)

I am now off to hop around your blogs. If you are stopping by via the hop then say hello! And if you are visitng for the first time, don't forget to leave a link to your blog so I can come and visit you too! Happy hopping!

Book Blogger Hop Feburary 4-7

Book Blogger Hop

It has been months since I have participated in the Book Blogger Hop, hosted by Jennifer over at Crazy For Books! I figured it's about time I popped back in to say hello!

This week Jennifer asks us:

"What are you reading now and why are you reading it?"

Good question! Right now I am reading a book called The Player of Games by Iain M. Banks. It's a sci-fi novel my fiance recommended. He seemed to love it, so I figured I would give it a go!

Now I am off to hop around some new-to-me-blogs, if you are here from the hop, please introduce yourself. I love meeting fellow book bloggers.

What are you reading now?

Book Blogger Hop: October 29 - Nov 1, 2010

It has been quite a while since I have participated in the Book Blogger Hop, hosted by Jen over at Crazy For Books. I figured it was time to find some new blogs to read and to meet some more of my fellow book bloggers.
This week Jen asks us,"What is the one bookish thing you would love to have, no matter the cost?"

That is too easy! My dream library. I think I have talked about this before, but my dream library would have two stories, like this:

This is the Circulating Library at the State Library of South Australia. I would love a room like this in my house. A room lined with books. Except, I would have rolling ladders around the walls and instead of external stairs, I would have a secret passage that housed the stairs needed to get to the top level. Kind of like this:

Awesome right?! It will also have big, fat comfortable lounges with lots of pillows and reading lamps. Maybe even a wing-back chair...

Lastly, (although not book related) it would also have a passage down into my wine cellar! That way I can just pop on down there and get myself a nice bottle of Shiraz to sip while reading. Perfect!

Wine Bottle Cellar
What book related item would YOU happily spend your money on, regardless of cost?

Leave a comment below and let me know, or point me in the direction of your post! And if you are visiting my blog from the hop, for the first time, don't forget to introduce yourself.

Book Blogger Hop: September 10-13, 2010

It's that time again! Time for the follow Friday inspired, book blogger hop, hosted be Jennifer over at Crazy for Books

This week Jennifer asks us to "post a link to a favorite post or book review that you have written in the past three months".

One post I really enjoyed writing (or at least wrote with a fevered passion) was this one: They did what?!. This post looked at my much beloved Enid Blyton, Magic Faraway Tree books and how the publishers have changed certain aspects of the book to suit modern audiences. Head over there to join the discussion!

What is your favourite post or review on this blog? What have you written lately that you enjoyed writing? First time here? Don't forget to say hello and leave me your link so I can visit you too!

Book Blogger Hop: August 20-23, 2010

It's that time again! Time for the follow Friday inspired, book blogger hop, hosted be Jennifer over at Crazy for Books

This week Jennifer asks us how many blogs do you follow?

I can answer that question in two ways. Firstly, I follow quite a lot of blogs through the Google follower widget. I am not sure how many, I am not even sure I know how to find this out? I think that the Google feature is a good way to show appreciation for a blog and it's content. If I follow you through this feature it is because I like what you are doing and wish to show support. I will more than likely visit your blog on occasion just to say hello and see what you are reading.

On the other hand, I follow around 40 blogs in my google reader. These are what I feel, are the best of the best! If I put every blog I liked in my Google reader, I wouldn't be able to keep up with anyone's posts. So instead, I am very selective about which blogs go in there. These are the blogs I visit regularly and comment on often.

This week, some of the bloggers in my google reader wrote some really interesting posts! Here are a few I think are worth checking out:
  • Becky from Page Turners has written a great guest post on Desert Book Chick about why we should all read the classics.
  • Shannon over at Giraffe Days wrote a great post on using proper literary terms in your reviews.
  • Although this was from last Friday, Carin from A Little Bookish wrote a great post with Rikki from The Bookkeeper, about how we treat our books. Are you a book abuser?
I hope you check out these posts and enjoy them as much as I did! Now I am off to hop. If you are stopping by via the hop, leave me a comment on your link so I can come visit you too.

Book Blogger Hop: August 6-9 2010

It's that time again! Time for the follow Friday inspired, book blogger hop, hosted be Jennifer over at Crazy for Books

This week Jennifer asks us what music we listen to when we read. This isn't a great question for me because I don't listen to music when I read. I don't like distractions and love to immerse myself in a book completely. I guess I am not the greatest at multi-tasking when I want to really concentrate on something. Not the most interesting answer, I know.

This week I can proudly report that I completed the July Book Ban and did not once succumb to temptation and buy a book. I am very proud of myself and may just take part in another book ban soon. I think I will skip this month though and join in next month. I don't think I am strong enough to do two months in a row.

If you want to join the August Book Buying Ban, then head over here, to sign up.

To celebrate my achievement I shouted myself a book. I bought a copy of The Passage by Justin Cronin which I have been dying to read. I am about 200 pages in and loving it.

My mum also bought me a book. She got me Broken by Karin Slaughter which is book number seven in the Grant County series. I love this series and can't wait to sink my teeth into this book.

Now I am off to hop around the amazing blogs in this community. If you are visiting from the hop, let me know so I can come swing by your blog too.

Book Blogger Hop: July 23-26, 2010

It's that time again! Time for the follow Friday inspired, book blogger hop, hosted be Jennifer over at Crazy for Books

I have participated in the hop a number of times now and I am seeing the same wonderful blogs every week! This is great, but I am starting to wonder if there are any new blogs out there for me to visit? So if you are visiting me for the first time leave me a comment and your link so I can come visit your blog!

This week I finished reading The Library of Shadows by Mikkel Birkegaard and Déjà Dead by Kathy Reichs.
Now I am looking forward to sinking my teeth into The Love Poems by Ovid. I am currently studying a subject on ancient Rome through my masters degree and this is one of the set texts. I have five others to get through too, so that may keep me busy for a while although I will do my best to fit a few unrelated novels in my reading schedule too.

Now, I am off to hop!

Book Blogger Hop: July 9-12, 2010

It's that time again! Time for Friday's Book Blogger Hop over at Crazy For Books! I found some really great blogs last week and met some fantastic bloggers! I really am lovin' the hop right now. Although, my google reader is busting at the seams!

Not only that, I counted up my 'owned TBR' pile this week and found I have a fair amount of books I need to read. So I decided to take part in the Book Buyers Anonymous, book buying ban over at 25 Hour Books! My goal is to get through July without spending any money on a book. Sounds easy? Not so much. We will see how I go. If you want to sign up too, then head over here to do so!

All right, I am off to hop around your blogs! If you stop by here from the hop then please say hello and leave your link so I can come visit you too!
